Care
Denim
How to care for denim
1. Wear more, wash less
Denim doesn’t need constant washing. Unless they’re dirty or smell, give them a few wears. They’ll last way longer.
2. Turn them inside out
Turning them inside out protects the colour and reduces fading. Small step, big impact.
3. Zip + button up
Zipping and buttoning up keeps the shape and prevents snags when washing.
4. Wash cold
Wash at 30°C max to save energy and prevent shrinkage.
5. Skip the dryer
Air dry only. The dryer is the real villain here.
6. Store properly
Fold heavy denim or hang by the waistband. Store in a cool, dry place.
How to remove stains
Denim is durable, but spills happen!
Tips for all stains:
- Act quickly, fresh stains are much easier to remove.
- Avoid hot water until the stain is gone, as heat can set it.
- Always check care labels for specific washing instructions.
Here’s how to treat common stains:
Red Wine
- Blot the stain gently; avoid rubbing.
- Sprinkle with salt to absorb excess liquid.
- Rinse with cold water, then pre-treat with a mild detergent before washing.
Lipstick
- Scrape off any excess with a spoon.
- Dab gently with a cloth soaked in a small amount of dish soap.
- Rinse and launder as usual.
Coffee
- Rinse the stain under cold water immediately.
- Apply a mixture of mild detergent and water, gently working it in.
- Rinse and launder as usual.
Knitwear
Washing
Knit garments are soft, cosy staples that can last for years with the right care. Start by washing them properly: true knits should be hand-washed in cold water with a mild detergent, while machine-washable knits like your jersey tees can go on a gentle cycle with cool water. Always avoid bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the fibres.
Drying
After washing, do not hang knits to dry, as this can stretch the fabric. Instead, lay garments flat on a towel or a mesh drying rack, and gently reshape them while they are still damp.
Pilling
Small pills are a natural occurrence, especially in areas prone to rubbing. These can be removed gently with a fabric shaver or pill remover to restore a smooth surface.
Stains
Treat stains promptly by spot cleaning with a mild detergent. Dab gently rather than rubbing to avoid damaging the fibres.
Storage
To maintain shape and longevity, fold knits rather than hang them, and store them in a cool, dry place, avoiding overcrowding.
Performance
Washing
Performance garments, such as coats, jackets, and wadded puffers, are best washed on a gentle cycle in cold water with a mild detergent, unless otherwise advised. Steer clear of bleach, fabric softeners, and other harsh chemicals, as these may be too harsh for technical fabrics and water-repellent finishes.
Drying
For puffers and wadded coats, try tumble-drying on low heat in 10–15-minute intervals, gently shake or “puff up” the garment to help restore its loft and insulation. Remember to avoid high heat, which could damage fibres or wadding.
Stains
Treat stains quickly by gently spot cleaning with a mild detergent. Dab softly rather than scrubbing, which helps protect the fabric surface and maintain performance features.
Storage
For best results, store your performance garments in a cool, dry place. Try not to compress wadded coats for long periods, as this can reduce insulation and loft. Hanging lightweight jackets and storing bulkier puffers loosely will help them stay in good condition.
Sheer & Delicate
Washing
Sheers, such as our core Lenzing organzas or cotton voiles, are lightweight and delicate. To care for them, wash on a gentle cycle with cool water, or hand-wash with a mild detergent. Treat them gently, and avoid wringing or twisting, as this can affect their shape.
Drying
For best results, lay garments flat to dry. Hanging may stretch your sheers, keep away from direct heat or sunlight to keep their colours fresh and bright.
Ironing
If you need to iron, try the touch method on a low setting. Avoid dragging the iron; instead, press gently to smooth out wrinkles without stressing the fibres.
Stains
Treat stains promptly by spot cleaning with a mild detergent. Dab gently—do not rub—to protect the delicate fibres.
Storage
Store garments with enough space to prevent overcrowding and keep them away from sharp objects that could snag the fabric.
Stains
Step 1: Before you add anything, remove the excess. With liquids, gently dab with tissue or kitchen roll. Don’t rub (rubbing = spreading)
Step 2: Always use cold water first, as hot water can set stains, and, where possible, rinse from the back of the stain.
Coffee & Tea
Rinse with cold water.
Then dab with a little washing-up liquid.
Still there? Try white vinegar.
Red Wine
Blot immediately.
Add salt to soak it up.
Rinse cold.
Dish soap if needed.
Oil
Sprinkle baking soda or cornflour.
Let it sit 20–30 mins.
Brush off.
Add dish soap before washing.
Sweat
Mix a paste with baking soda with a little water.
Rub in gently.
Rinse and wash.
Smoke Smell
Soak in water with white vinegar.
Air dry if possible.
