Our Ethos

Intentional from start to finish

Every Damson Madder piece begins 12 to 18 months before it reaches your wardrobe. We work slowly and deliberately — refining design, nurturing long-term relationships with our factories and suppliers, and perfecting quality and fit. Our garments are made to last. Rather than chasing trends, we focus on form, function, and thoughtful detail — creating pieces that flatter, feel special, and are meant to be worn again and again.

We believe in full transparency. We do not own any of our factories but our supply base are long term partners, and believe in working together as a collaboration with the same values.
We have worked hard to build strong, long-term relationships with all our global suppliers.
Globally, all our Tier 1 and 2 factories are audited by a third party such as Sedex or BSCI, with audits being conducted both semi-announced and unannounced.
Code of Conduct

Alongside our third party audits, our partner factories must all adhere to the Damson Madder code of conduct which lays out the basic foundations that all partners must comply with.  We aim to ensure that the rights of workers in our supply chain are respected and protected. Prohibition of all forms of modern slavery, including child labour, forced labour, bonded labour and the protection of human rights is fundamental to who Damson Madder are and what Damson Madder stands for. This forms a key part of Damson Madder’s Code of Conduct.

Responsible Fibre Practice  

Our Responsible Fibre Practice sets out the standards we expect across the materials we use, helping us make informed choices around sourcing. 

Certified Fibres

We work with recognised fibre standards including GOTS, OCS, RCS GRS and Textile Exchange’s Responsible Animal Fibre standards. Certification and Transaction Certificates help us trace our fibres through the supply chain and give us greater visibility of where our materials come from.

Animal Welfare

Animal welfare is an important part of how we source animal derived materials, including wool, animal hair and leather. We prioritise recognised animal fibre standards, set clear requirements for the materials and practices we won’t accept, and continue to work towards greater traceability across these supply chains.

Leather

 When we use leather, we prioritise sourcing through Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries, supporting better practices and greater transparency across the leather supply chain. We do not use exotic skins or hides from endangered or threatened species, and continue to work with our suppliers to improve traceability back through the supply chain.

Cotton

Knowing where our cotton comes from matters to us. Our sourcing requirements consider both the origin of the fibre and the people within its supply chain. We prohibit cotton sourced from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), and continue to review our approach as human rights risks and traceability practices evolve.

Cellulosic Fibres

For cellulosic fibres such as viscose, modal and lyocell, we prioritise traceable and certified sources, with a focus on responsibly managed forests. Where full chain-of-custody certification is not available, we prioritise certified fibre sources and work with our suppliers to build greater visibility throughout the supply chain. Our chemical compliance requirements support responsible processing, dyeing and finishing.

Wood & Paper

For wood and paper-based materials, we prioritise FSC®-certified sources, supporting responsible forest management and greater traceability through the supply chain.

Chemical Policy 

Our Chemical Compliance Policy sets out the standards we expect across our products and supply chain, covering our restricted substances list, responsible chemical management and product safety. 

Our suppliers are required to meet these standards and provide recognised certification or independent testing to demonstrate compliance.

Alongside our supplier requirements, we carry out random chemical spot testing on finished products to help verify compliance and give us greater visibility of chemical management across our supply chain. We continue to review our requirements as legislation and industry standards evolve.
